Anne
Hi Members, my story... tried getting divorce but ex not engaging and has left me paying all bills and mortgage. Have a solicitor but costs are ridiculous especially as paying everything. I have inheritance from my father but this was put into an account held by conveyancers after I sold a second property i purchased. The solicitor had told me to do this and over a year. I have decided not to continue with divorce as its crazy and as i no longer give permission for the monies to be held. What can I do ? help please.... Peter B
Hi Anne, Sorry I've only just seen your message and noticed no one has yet responded to it. Regarding the divorce, there's no requirement to continue if the costs are too high, especially if your ex isn't cooperating. Regarding the inheritance, conveyancers are solicitors who specialize in property transactions. It sounds like the inheritance money from the sale of your second property was placed in a holding account with them while the legalities of the sale were finalized. Since over a year has passed, and you are no longer pursuing the sale, you should be able to access your inheritance. You can therefore contact the conveyancer & inform them of your decision to withdraw the funds.
