Thanks, I thought I would share the process I've been going through so far

• Financial Disclosure (1) - for Mediation
• Mediation (1)
  • From my perspective this was a complete waste of time & money as my STBEW abandoned this after 7 sessions
  • It started off all friendly & amicable but we ended up too far apart in what we both wanted)
• Financial Disclosure (2) - for solicitor (original figures became out of date due to everything taking to long)
• Negotiation - basically none, radio silence from my STBEW's side
• Court Involvement - because everything taking so long and getting nowhere
• Requested certificate from mediator to prove we had tried mediation - rejected as was out of date
• Medation (2) - rejected by STBEW, was then supplied with a certificate to prove we tried it
• Financial Disclosure (3) - for solicitor & court (previous figures become out of date again)
• Court preparation (1st hearing)
• Court hearing (1): First Directions Appointment (FDA)
• Pension sharing report
• Court preparation (2nd hearing)
• Reaching an Agreement - still nowhere close, have to wait for up to 3 court hearings
• Court hearing (2): Financial Dispute Resolution (FDR) - scheduled, not had yet
• Court hearing (3) Final hearing - hoping we don't need this !

All the above is just for financial settlement, we're still trying to resolve family matters with the children which may end up being another court case.

My advice would be if there is any possibility you are going to be far apart in what you both want then don't delay - file with the court immediately.  All delays cost you unnecessary time, stress & money !
